Need New Tires? Visit Your CDJR Dealership

Your tires are bound to wear out after years of use, but letting them get too worn down can severely impact your driving experience and put your safety at risk. Watch out for signs of wear and tear, and visit our CDJR dealership for new tires.

Excess Vibrations When Driving

A little vibration is normal when driving your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or RAM, especially on rougher road surfaces. If you start noticing excessive shaking or vibration at highway speeds, it could be a sign that your tires are in poor condition.

Uneven tread wear, internal structural damage, or balance issues can cause vibrations when driving. If you don’t replace the worn-out tires, the vibrations can put extra strain on the suspension and steering components.

Shallow Tread Depth

Shallow tread depth is a sign that you’re overdue for a new set of tires. Modern CDJR tires come with tread wear indicator bars, which are small raised bars located in the tread groves. The bars are barely visible in new car tires, but as tread wears down over time, they start to become flush with the surrounding tread pattern.

If you start to see multiple bars peeking through across the circumference of the tire, you have burned through most of the usable tread. Get a new set immediately to maintain proper traction and handling.

Bulges or Blisters in the Tire

Bulges and blisters occur when there is a separation within the tire’s internal structure. This compromises the tire’s strength and flexibility. When you hit potholes, curbs, or debris, the impact causes air to leak into the weakened spaces and form bubbles. Driving on blistered tires increases the risk of a blowout, so replace the tires immediately.

Bald Tires

Balding is a sign that you desperately need to replace your vehicle’s tires. It occurs when the tread wears down severely, leaving a smooth tire surface. At this point, there is little to no tread depth remaining to provide traction, especially on wet roads. Bald tires can compromise your safety because they hydroplane easily, making it difficult to control the vehicle.

Cracks in the Tire’s Sidewall

It’s not just the condition of the tread that you need to monitor. Problems can also crop up on your tires’ sidewalls. Cracks and cuts that are visible in the sidewall rubber mean the structural integrity of the tire has been compromised.

Even small splits can allow air to slowly seep out, leading to frequent air pressure issues. We do not recommend repairing a tire’s sidewall because any damage to this part of the tire leads to possible structural issues and blowouts. Instead, protect your safety by replacing the tire.

A fresh set of tires doesn’t just make your ride look good. It also enhances traction and handling and makes for a pleasant driving experience. Contact Zeigler Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Plainwell in Plainwell, MI to order new, high-quality tires for your vehicle.
